Soldier On honoured to announce Australia’s Governor-General as Patron-in-Chief

National charity Soldier On is honoured to announce Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, as the organisation’s Patron-in-Chief.

In a video message to formally announce her appointment, Ms Mostyn said the important role sees her follow in the footsteps of Soldier On’s founding patrons, General Hurley and Mrs Hurley — her predecessors at Government House.

Since taking office a year ago as Australia’s 28th Governor-General, Ms Mostyn said she has committed to placing care, kindness and respect at the heart of everything she does — including with our Australian Defence and veteran community.

As the daughter of a soldier, Ms Mostyn’s commitment to Soldier On’s mission — to empower veterans and their families by providing holistic support services that enable current and former Australian Defence Force personnel and their families to lead meaningful civilian lives — is genuine and heartfelt.

‘I am delighted and honoured to be working with Soldier On as they continue to care in such profound ways for our veterans and their families,’ she said.

Soldier On CEO Paul Singer is thrilled that Ms Mostyn has accepted Soldier On’s invitation to become Patron-in-Chief.

‘The Governor-General’s patronage helps bring invaluable recognition to our mission and further amplifies our efforts to ensure that every veteran and their family can access the support they need to transition successfully and build fulfilling post-service lives,’ Mr Singer said. ‘We look forward to working with Her Excellency as Soldier On empowers and supports those who have given so much in service to the nation.’
