Soldier On officially launched its 2024–2025 Impact Report at a Spring Reception hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, at Government House in Canberra last week.
The event brought together veterans, Defence leaders, government representatives, corporate partners, and community supporters to celebrate another year of life-changing outcomes for serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their families.
The Governor-General – who serves as Patron-in-Chief of Soldier On – officially launched the report and commended the organisation’s ongoing dedication to the veteran community.
‘When I think of veterans and their health, I think immediately of Soldier On,’ she said. ‘In just 13 years, Soldier On has become synonymous with care for veterans and their families… and at the heart of a growing national focus on veterans’ wellbeing.’
The Impact Report 2024–2025 chronicles Soldier On’s achievements across its four HELP program pillars – Health & Wellbeing, Employment, Learning & Education, and Participation – and demonstrates the organisation’s mission to see every veteran and family member thrive.
In the Impact Report’s joint introduction, Soldier On CEO Paul Singer and Chairman LTGEN Peter Leahy AC (Ret’d) stated:
‘This past year, Soldier On has been privileged to walk alongside thousands of current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of service life, transition, and beyond.’
Celebrating impact and partnership
Soldier On CEO Paul Singer said the event was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through collaboration and compassion.
“To have the support of the Governor-General as our Patron-in-Chief, and to celebrate this launch at Government House, is deeply meaningful. The Impact Report is more than a document – it’s a reflection of the lives changed through our collective efforts.”
2024–2025 Impact Snapshot
The year saw record results powered by community action and strategic program growth, including $2.16 million raised through Soldier On’s largest annual fundraiser, March On 2025, tailored job support for 509 new participants, the delivery of 347 CV support sessions, 44 education partnerships to support veterans and their families and mentoring program success that saw 28 mentors connect with 28 mentees to provide tailored support and guidance.
Participant success stories include veteran James, who found new purpose after a Pathways Networking Event led to a career in quality management, and Ellyse, the child of a serving member, who received the 2025 Soldier On Scholarship to pursue her Bachelor of Built Environments (Architecture) at the University of Canberra.
Building connection, confidence and purpose
Reflecting on the report, CEO Paul Singer said:
‘This report represents not only the outcomes we have achieved but the people, partnerships, and passion behind them.’
Soldier On’s social connection activities brought together more than 6,000 veterans and family members over the past year. Nearly 2,400 participants took part in education and mentoring programs, while more than 2,100 veterans received dedicated employment support.
Looking ahead
While the Impact Report reflects impressive achievements, it also underscores Soldier On’s continued commitment to evolving support.
“As the needs of contemporary veterans evolve, so too will Soldier On,” said CEO Paul Singer. “We are strengthening program integration, expanding trauma-informed care, and reaching more communities – metro, regional, and remote – to ensure no one who has served our nation is left behind.”
