From Sydney to Melbourne and Canberra, Soldier On staff will roll up their sleeves this October to support the Red Cross Lifeblood Defence Blood Drive, helping people who rely on blood and plasma donations.
Soldier On’s participation is part of a national campaign that has brought together Australian Defence Force personnel, Defence public servants and industry partners since 2009.
The need for donations is constant. More than 33,000 blood and plasma donations are needed across Australia every week to support people undergoing surgery and cancer treatment, managing chronic illnesses or recovering from serious injuries.
The Defence Blood Drive makes a significant contribution. In 2025, Defence personnel, public servants and industry participants made a total of 10,449 donations, helping save more than 25,497 lives.
Making a difference beyond our own work
For Soldier On staff, taking part is an opportunity to support the wider community in a practical way.
‘At Soldier On, we see every day how important support can be when people are facing challenges,’ says Soldier On CEO Paul Singer. ‘Taking part in the Defence Blood Drive is another way our team can help others. A blood or plasma donation can make an enormous difference to someone who needs it, and I encourage anyone who is eligible to consider donating and joining us in supporting this important cause.’
A single whole-blood donation can help save up to three lives. Donated blood can be separated into components to help different patients, while plasma is used to make treatments for people with a range of serious and chronic medical conditions.
