The Senior Risk Manager has the primary responsibility to provide advice and support in all matters related to Optus Satellite risk management. This role will ensure that all business-related risks are identified, assessed, reported, remediated, and monitored effectively, to meet business performance objectives within the risk tolerances established and in a compliant manner.

Your day in the life of a Satellite Risk Manager at Optus

  • Implement and maintain the Optus Risk Management Framework for Optus Satellite, ensuring effective risk assessments and control environments.
  • Contribute to the design of Optus Satellite business processes by designing effective controls.
  • Conduct in-depth risk assessments for key Satellite projects such as Optus 11, D3 MEP, D2 Mitigation, and others, including resilience planning.
  • Collaborate with Optus Group Risk Management for risk reporting and business continuity planning, and with Optus Group Internal Audit for audit preparations and execution.
  • Coordinate the monitoring, reporting, and integrity of data within the Optus Governance Risk and Compliance system.
  • Analyze trends and prepare reports to provide transparency and organization-level insights into Optus Satellite’s risk management and compliance performance.

Your skills to pay the bills!

  • Experience within complex organizational structures, understanding the dynamics and challenges that come with it.
  • Ability to Define and adhere to a project plan, managing and containing any adverse changes related to cost, time, and communication aspects.
  • Capable of persuading and working with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, across various levels of seniority.
  • Familiarity with risk management and control standards like ISO31000, COBIT, and ISO27001 is essential, as well as best practices in enterprise risk environments, particularly with Line 1 risk experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use specialised tools for risk reporting and governance tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and make impactful decisions regarding processes and operational expenditure, always with the customer’s and Optus’s best interests in mind.
  • Ability to handle multiple critical risks, managing information, and recovery plans effectively to senior executives.
  • The ability to consolidate and interpret data from various sources to extract meaningful insights.
