Many contemporary veterans face challenges in finding meaningful ways to continue contributing to their community after their service.
Soldier On’s Serving On program provides transitioning ADF members and veterans with the opportunity to serve through purposeful volunteer work in disaster response and community recovery. Participants gain practical skills, hands-on experience, and ongoing support while making a real difference in communities affected by disasters.
Through Serving On, participants can:
- Participate in disaster relief deployments and assist communities in need.
- Support the organisation of volunteer briefings, training, and logistics.
- Take part in hands-on recovery efforts, including clearing debris, rebuilding, and providing community support.
- Mentor fellow veterans who are new to volunteering in disaster relief.
- Ensure all deployments are conducted safely and in line with governance and operational procedures.
Serving On also offers a chance for participants to build connections with fellow veterans while contributing to meaningful community initiatives. The program operates nationwide, providing a diverse range of volunteering opportunities for veterans to continue their service in a new way.
