After a very prosperous and successful driving career, Mark retired in 2016 and continues to be a global ambassador for Porsche, Red Bull and Rolex. Nowadays, he also provides TV commentary for Channel 4’s Formula 1 telecasts and for Channel 10 in Australia.
Mark was Awarded the Australia AO (Order of Australia for distinguished services to motorsport and charitable concerns). He has created the Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge, which is an annual multi-sports adventure race around Tasmania to raise funds for environmental projects and children’s charities. Along with his extensive fundraising experience, Mark is now a celebrity ambassador for Soldier On.
Why Mark is an Ambassador for Soldier On: “I grew up in Queanbeyan near Canberra, which of course, has a strong military presence with Royal Duntroon and the War Memorial. I always had tremendous respect for the men and women who served our country, and on my travels around the world for my work, I’ve had the opportunity to visit Gallipoli and the war-graves in Northern France, which were both very moving experiences for me. So, given the high level of respect I have, it was easy for me to accept the invitation to become an ambassador for Soldier On. If, in any way, I can bring support and raise awareness for our military veterans, I am very happy to do so, and I look forward to meeting some of them when I’m back in Australia”.
