Jody Hillier

Service Ambassador

Jody is a retired Royal Australian Air Force Logistics Officer with 25 years of service across a distinguished Defence career. Her postings included RAAF Base Amberley, 34 Squadron in Canberra, and senior roles on major fast-jet acquisition programs, including the Super Hornet and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. As part of the F-35 program, she spent four years in the United States supporting Australia’s future air combat capability.

In 1999, Jody deployed to East Timor with INTERFET, working at Komoro Airfield in Dili during a critical period of stabilisation. Twenty years later, she returned to commemorate the deployment, witnessing firsthand the progress made since the conflict.

Jody’s connection with Soldier On began through chance and became an important source of support during her transition to civilian life. Through Soldier On, she gained confidence to build networks and translate her Defence experience into the private sector, holding senior roles at Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.

Now retired, Jody is passionate about raising the profile of contemporary veterans – particularly women – and challenging outdated perceptions by highlighting the diversity of modern veteran experiences.
