Brigadier Ian Errington AM, CSC (Retd) brings more than four decades of distinguished service, leadership and strategic expertise to the Soldier On community. Rising from Recruit to Brigadier across a 42-year Australian Army career, Ian held senior operational, intelligence and diplomatic appointments across Australia, Southeast Asia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Iraq and Afghanistan.
His career includes service as Principal of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, senior coalition intelligence officer advising commanders including Generals David Petraeus and John Allen, and Army Attaché and Head of the Australian Defence Staff in Jakarta. He continues to contribute to national security and governance as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra and as a Tribunal Member with RSL Queensland.
A highly decorated officer, Ian has been recognised with a Member of the Order of Australia, the Conspicuous Service Cross, Group Bravery Citation, the U.S. Legion of Merit and multiple commendations. A passionate advocate for veterans, he has raised significant funds for Soldier On through endurance challenges including the Camino de Santiago, the Heysen Trail and the Murray River Paddle – combining service, leadership and lifelong commitment to supporting the veteran community.
