Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM served as the 23rd Administrator of the Northern Territory. During his term, he was appointed Soldier On’s NT Patron and now continues his support as a proud ambassador.
A distinguished medical professional with over 50 years in health, he has held clinical, leadership, and humanitarian roles across Australia and internationally. He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2021 and appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2024. He previously served as Chief Health Officer of the NT and played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic. A passionate advocate for Indigenous health and reconciliation, he has lived and worked in remote NT communities since 2001.
Professor Heggie has also held honorary Defence Force titles as Honorary Colonel of NORFORCE, Honorary Air Commodore of No. 13 (City of Darwin) Squadron, and Honorary Air Commodore of No. 17 (RAAF Base Tindal) Squadron. He remains committed to promoting the Territory’s diverse regions and people.
