About the role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our Strategy Future Network Management Team.
The Data Scientist is responsible for championing the discipline of data science through delivery of complex statistical analysis, which enables advanced business insights for better decision making. The role is responsible for collaborating with Data Scientists, BI Developers and Business stakeholders to understand requirements, build, test and implement data pipelines, tables, models and workflows in Databricks. The role will involve the application of various tools, data mining, statistical techniques, algorithms, and machine learning principles to identify trends, patterns, and insights from raw data.
This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.
About You
You will use your Azure and Databricks experience to deliver big data solutions and business reporting uplift. You will possess a demonstrated history of leveraging your data science or engineering experience, machine learning, modelling, and advanced analytics skills to build data pipelines, models and dashboards. In addition, you will have the following;
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercial relevance of analysis and manage and be responsible for the delivery of these outcomes.
- Proven record of accomplishment in being able to understand the key business problems being explained, source smart data and develop data models needed to add value.
- Provide development and management of large-scale statistical modelling and analyses, constraint modelling and forecasting to enable strategic business outcomes.
- Experience in modelling, and analysis of the implications of future scenarios for purposes of development and validation of strategies related to long term development and integration of new technologies to address constraints on the network.
- Expertise in computer operations, business systems and tools including R, SAS, Python, developing SQL scripts and stored procedures and coding in Pyspark.
- Ability to gather and transform structured and unstructured data from various systems, presenting it in an easy-to-use way for its relevant audience.
- Strong collaboration skills, partnering with various stakeholders to identify opportunities, plan, and implement system uplift and process automation.
- Experience in troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems on large datasets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Data Science, Computer Science, Science or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
- Proven record of leveraging your data science/engineering experience to build data pipelines and models, data cleansing, statistical analysis, data visualisation and machine learning.
- Data science/engineering background working across Databricks Lakehouse and Delta Lakes.
- You are skilled in working in large and complex organisational environments and use your strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills to build robust working relationships with stakeholders and team members.
Desirable
- Energy or Utility (electricity distribution network) experience.
- Project management experience preferred
- Certification in Databricks
