At Soldier On, we recognise the remarkable skills, training and experiences of our service personnel.
The high tempo of operations and the superior level of training our ADF and national security agencies deliver, has created a new generation of service personnel with skills and attributes that are highly valued and transferable to industry. These skills include but are not limited to leadership, communication and articulation of complex information, technical knowledge, analytical skills, problem solving and teamwork.
We are working with organisations of all sizes across the country, to educate them about our highly-trained service personnel and the benefits they bring to any workforce. We are encouraging employers to provide greater opportunities for you and your family members. So far, over 45 organisations have pledged their support to our program.

“With Soldier On’s help I learnt that a single resume was not going to get the job that I wanted, I learnt that my resumes needed to be developed and constructed to suit the position I was applying for. Soldier On reviewed my resume and identified areas that were probably not suited to the civilian sector, such as skill sets, and was able to help me translate to ‘civilian’ terms…
But of all things that Soldier On did for me one thing stood out above all others, and that was Soldier On genuinely cared about my situation…
So I can clearly state, that the role I have today was the direct result of the team at Soldier On.” – NSW Participant

Unsure of your next career move?
You may have never imagined life beyond your service, leaving you with some uncertainty about your future career.
If you are unsure about what career is right for you, our Employment Officers can undertake career exploration with you.
This involves a personality, skills and qualification assessment. After this, our staff with work with you to design a plan to help you build a new career.
For example, if you decide you want a career in IT, our Soldier On Employment Officer will look at your current skills and qualifications and, if required, suggest what study and upskilling is needed for you to become job ready and can start applying for roles.

While service personnel have an extensive range of abilities, attributes and skills gained during their service careers, there can be challenges in obtaining appropriate professional and/or trade qualifications that are recognised in the civilian workforce.
To help combat some of these challenges, Soldier On is developing an Education program that is;
- Effective – participants obtain legible qualifications and skills that will assist them in their new civilian life.
- Efficient – participants obtain qualifications and skills in a timely manner through the shortest route and with minimal cost.
- Scalable – the education program will be rolled out nationally and the qualifications and skills on offer can be modified, built upon or removed when required.
- Sustainable – the education program will ensure that the qualifications and skills offered are inclusive, equitable and of the best quality by partnering with long term, educational partners.
Opportunities will be advertised via Soldier On newsletters, on this website and on our social media channels, as they become available.
To register interest or discuss your education needs, speak with one of our Employment or Education Officers.
