In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the Memorial will hold a private, nationally televised Anzac Day commemorative service. This service will be held in the Commemorative Area and Hall of Memory at 5.00 am on Anzac Day. The traditional Dawn Service, National Ceremony and veterans’ march will not take place.
The event will not be open to the public but will be broadcast live across Australia by the ABC and streamed online.
Full details are being finalised. Please refer to the Australian War Memorial website and the Memorial's social media channels for updates.
We invite you to take part in an incredible social movement called Driveway at Dawn. Soldier On has partnered with the founders of this movement, a group of volunteers called “Aussies and Kiwis for ANZACs” to enable each and every one of us to stand at our driveways from 5.55am on ANZAC day. An app has been released on both Android and Apple, that will feature a virtual candle and synchronised playing of The Last Post at precisely 6am so we can virtually stand side-by-side to show our respect as a nation.
Soldier On invites you to join us online this ANZAC Day as we remember and say thank you to those who have served and are serving in the forces. Join us online on the Soldier On website on ANZAC Day for a Commemoration Service with a difference, featuring messages from the veteran community including Soldier On Patron, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Soldier On Chairman, Professor Peter Leahy AC, Lieutenant General (Ret’d), Soldier On Ambassadors and Soldier On CEO, Ivan Slavich.
Soldier On has launched their annual #InTheirHonour appeal, and we ask for you make a donation to Soldier On, so our contemporary veterans and their families can receive the vital support services for them to thrive. When you make an online donation, you will also receive a Facebook frame to proudly display your support. Click here to show your support by making a donation.
