Intermediate Skills for Sculpting From Life – Voices of Veterans

16/09/2023 @ 9:30 am

If you’ve experienced Mike’s introduction to sculpting from life course but learn more about the process including armatures, complex posing, proportions and other more advanced skills this is the workshop for you. Come join artist, mentor and veteran Mike Armstrong as he simplifies the daunting prospect of working in clay to produce a seated figure. He will discuss tips and tricks to make judging proportions easier, looking after your model and finishing your sculpture ready for mould making. The class will be a small intimate group within Mike’s studio in the Robert Poate Centre and will provide you with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and practice the techniques and skills you will learn. This class is essential learning for follow-on classes Mike will be running on sculpting from life. It is recommended that you complete an introduction to sculpting from life with Mike before undertaking this class.

We do ask for a ‘pay it forward’ contribution from veterans, first responders and their families of $160 to cover the basic costs of the workshop and allow us to support future events arts workshops facilitated by Voices of Veterans. The workshop’s full cost for none veteran affiliated participants is $350.

Refreshments and a vegetarian lunch will be offered during the class.

Spaces are limited. Please arrive 20 minutes before class.
