A lot can be said for rebuilding the sense of brotherhood and camaraderie of service. That’s why Soldier on, with the support of Movember’s Social Innovators Challenge has developed Vet Connect, the inaugural men’s program.

Designed specifically to connect male service personnel to a healthy lifestyle, solid friendships, and access to their local community. The program comprises of 3 weekend workshops held over 6 months with a small group format.

WA South Cycling Group (Warship Peddlers) Kalamunda 100

Our partnered riding group, the Henderson Warship Peddlers, undertake some of the biggest rides WA has to offer, as well as social training rides throughout the year. Meeting in the Henderson/Rockingham area, this group is great for any service persons and family members in the South Metro. Registrations are essential (email wa@soldieron.org.au with your name, preferred email address, and phone number).

Participants to cover own costs.

Women’s Catch Up
Feb 17 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join the Jason Brown Centre at Bark Subiaco for a Sunday afternoon catch-up. This is a safe space for women to get together and bond over life as a woman in the service community.

Whilst the official opening hours for Bark Subiaco are Monday-Saturday, the staff open the cafe for us on the Sunday. Please contact our WA office if you have any concerns at: WA@soldieron.org.au

Base Visit-RAAF Base Williamtown @ Chaplain Centre
Feb 18 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Our Newcastle-based Programs Officer will be at RAAF Base Williamtown for the day. They will be working in the Chaplain’s Centre and will be available to discuss the services that are available for defence personnel and their families.

Our staff member(s) will happily conduct individual conversations that can go more in-depth with the participants and how we can tailor the program to meet their needs and those of their family. To register for an appointment please email newcastle@soldieron.org.au.

Functional Fitness Group Training @ Palm Beach Aquatic Centre

Attention all service personnel and family members in the Palm Beach area! Thanks to the Gold Coast City Council, Glenn Fitness Coast Fitness is offering a free 1 hour PT fitness session. There’s never a bad time to start working on your fitness so join up now. These group sessions have the right amount of fun and toughness and are run by an ex-serviceman.

Coffee catch up-Wodonga @ Cafe Grove

Come along for a brew and a chat, our Programs Officer will be attending the catch up to share information about upcoming events and to discuss ideas for future events and any individual needs. There is no need to RSVP, and all those attending cover the cost of their own drinks.

Learn to Cycle
Feb 18 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Brisbane participants who love to cycle or keen to try, are encouraged to join the Monday 10am group at the outdoor track at the velodrome! Current and ex-service personnel from all walks of life have formed this group and it is open to all! Join Michael (an ex-service member himself) and his coaching team to get some fresh air and show off some lycra!

You will need to bring your own helmet and riding kit, however, a track bike can be borrowed. The cycling fee and insurance is covered provided you register through Soldier On.

The Chandler Outdoor Track at the Sleeman Sports Centre is located at the corner of Old Cleveland and Tilley Roads.

Port Stephens Fishing-2019

IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN!! Join us for this annual event on NSW’s north coast in the beautiful Port Stephens area. Once again we invite our NSW & ACT participants and their families to enjoy some R&R (rods and reels) over two days thanks to our friends at Calypso Fishing Adventures! Tuesday night will be a welcome dinner hosted by Soldier On, Calypso Fishing, and d’Albora Marina as a chance to meet and mingle before heading out to sea on our marlin fishing adventure early Wednesday morning. Thursday afternoon will be a relaxed BBQ picnic for all to unwind and catch up with friends old and new before we all head home.

When: Tuesday 19th – Thurs 21st February 2019
Where: 6 Teramby Rd, Nelson Bay NSW 2315
What: Fishing charter, 2 night accommodation (19th and 20th Feb) and some meals provided.
Open To: Minimum age of 18 years old. This activity is open to current and ex service personnel, and their families.
