Adventurous Training Wing Expedition @ Jervis Bay

The Adventurous Training Wing of the Army prepare their soldiers for adversity through challenge. Their overall mission is to develop the individual (as well as group qualities) required for battle.
As a way of assisting those on the other side of battle and service, the ATW are currently looking to pilot an program to assist personnel that are off active duty due to injury or in need of assistance with transitioning to their next chapter.
To showcase the impact adventure therapy can have, ATW will run a 10 day expedition and are inviting 10 Soldier On participants to be a part of this team.

The first 2 days will be theory based on resilience, coping strategies and goal setting. The expedition will be the following 7 days covering the coastline of NSW near Sydney. It will be multi element with a component of sea kayaking, caving and canyoning where participants can have a place apart and build a sense of achievement as an individual and a team.

Keen to apply? Criteria below;
• National security service  personnel.
• Off active duty due to injury, In transition, between careers or maladjusted from time in service.
• Medium to high level of fitness as there will be long hours of being active. Injuries can be assessed and alternate arrangements can be made to cater for certain mobility issues.

Golf Program-Geelong @ Geelong Golf Club

Soldier On are pleased to announce the expansion of the Golf Program for current and ex-service personnel in Victoria. A number of select courses will be offering this program to our participants in locations across the state, free of charge.
With the support of a number of clubs, we can assist current and ex-serving national security personnel through physical and social connection activities. These programs are available to current and ex-serving national security personnel, partners and carers. Please send through your name, number, and preferred club to attend.

Deep Sea Fishing @ A boat
Nov 28 @ 6:00 am – 12:00 pm

The crew at Port Macquarie Fishing Charters will take participants out for a 6hr fishing trip (weather permitting). You will also get to take home your catch (so you won’t get to embellish those tales too much!).

Participants will need to make their own way to Port Macquarie and the launch point at Town Wharf. Food, drink, and the charter will be covered.

Walking group

The walking group was launched for veterans’ health week and will now be a regular activity within Albury.  This is a great way to get out and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine whilst undertaking a leisurely walk around the botanical gardens following on to coffee catch up.

Music Sessions @ Robert Poate Centre

Bob Harrison leads the music sessions, which plays a mix of music: from folk to rock, pop to jazz. Whether you are a beginner or old-hat on a musical instrument and/or you can sing, come along and have a go.

Frontline Yoga @ Robert Poate Centre

Frontline Yoga provides yoga for mental and physical strength and resilience, delivered in a trauma sensitive way. Police, Paramedics, Firefighters, Defence, Healthcare Workers, SES/RFS, and Surf Life Savers can access free weekly yoga. Frontline’s aim is to foster community and support for those who step into frontline roles.

David Pang, an ex-military veteran leads the yoga sessions at the Robert Poate Centre. Sessions run from 6:00pm-6:45pm on Thursday evenings.
