Coffee Catchup-Kilmore @ Kilmore Bowls Club

Join us at the Kilmore Bowls Club for a coffee and chat. Our coffee catch ups are a friendly and supportive environment to meet with other serving and ex-serving personnel in your community. Family and friends/supporters are also welcome.

A Soldier On volunteer and ex-service person will be there, along with a representative from the RSL, to greet you.

You are free to stay for part, or all of the catch up. No bookings are needed and there is ample street parking.

Please share this event with other serving and ex-serving personnel you know around the area, who may benefit from connecting with people with similar life experiences.

Spouse Get Together @ Gregor Sher Centre

Join the Soldier On team at the Gregory Sher Centre for a chat and catch up with other partners and spouses of current and ex-service personnel.

Children are also welcome and we look forward to seeing you on the day.

On street parking is available at a small cost on either Royal Parade, on in nearby surrounding streets. Alternatively, you can catch Tram No. 19, which travels up Elizabeth Street and along Royal Parade from the City. Disembark at stop No. 16 and walk approximately 70m to Mayfair House.

 

This event is only open to the spouses and partners of current and ex-service personnel.

Music Sessions @ Robert Poate Centre

Bob Harrison leads the music sessions, which plays a mix of music: from folk to rock, pop to jazz. Whether you are a beginner or old-hat on a musical instrument and/or you can sing, come along and have a go.

Frontline Yoga @ Robert Poate Centre

Frontline Yoga provides yoga for mental and physical strength and resilience, delivered in a trauma sensitive way. Police, Paramedics, Firefighters, Defence, Healthcare Workers, SES/RFS, and Surf Life Savers can access free weekly yoga. Frontline’s aim is to foster community and support for those who step into frontline roles.

David Pang, an ex-military veteran leads the yoga sessions at the Robert Poate Centre. Sessions run from 6:00pm-6:45pm on Thursday evenings. Networking Opportunity @ Gregor Sher Centre

This is amazing opportunity for Soldier On participants to network with representatives from the corporate sector, to ask questions and discuss opportunities and techniques that can assist them in transitioning from a national security agency.

Finger food and refreshments will be provided.

Purple Ink Writing Project @ Robert Poate Centre

Expressions of Interest are invited for an upcoming and exciting writing program that will take place from February to November next year 2018. The aim of this project is to provide a structured program for the development of writing skills across a range of genres in a safe and supportive environment for Soldier On participants, with the potential opportunity for publication.

This project is designed for veterans and their families who have been affected by their service from 1990. Sessions will run fortnightly on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm at the Robert Poate Centre in Gungahlin. There is a maximum of 15 spaces so please send an expressions of interest that includes your name, information about you or your partner’s service, contact details, and any experience you may have with writing (all levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to published authors) to the team at act@soldieron.org.au. Current and ex-serving national security service personnel and first responders, who have served since 1990 may also be considered depending on availability of spaces.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills in writing and access the knowledge and experience of well know published authors. Get it quick before places run out!

Learn to surf @ Currumbin Beach

Surfing Australia, Soldier On, and Nudie Juice have teamed up to offer Soldier On participants and their family/supporters another learn to surf program. This exciting opportunity allows beginners, and those with a little more experience, to learn how to surf in a friendly but structured environment. You will need to bring swimmers, towel, sunscreen, and your sense of fun!

Family Sailing Day @ Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club

Soldier On and the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club have teamed up for another Family Sailing Day! These days are full of fun for everyone and allow you to learn how to sail under the trained eye of the staff at the RPAYC, or go for a swim whilst your family member learns how to sail.

Bring your swimmers, a towel, sunscreen, and anything else you feel you need to make the day great.

Functional Fitness Group Training @ Palm Beach Aquatic Centre

Attention all service personnel and family members in the Palm Beach area! Thanks to the Gold Coast City Council, Glenn Fitness Coast Fitness is offering a free 1 hour PT fitness session. There’s never a bad time to start working on your fitness so join up now. These group sessions have the right amount of fun and toughness and are run by an ex-serviceman.
