National not-for-profit organisation Soldier On has been recognised for the support it provides to the Veteran community, winning the highly acclaimed Veteran Support Program of the Year Award at the Australian Defence Industry Awards 2020.

Soldier On’s holistic support services include a range of mental health and wellbeing programs, employment and education support, as well as participation and social connection activities centred around the needs of the Australian Veteran community and their families.

Soldier On’s Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Slavich said; “We are honoured to receive the Veteran Support Program of the Year Award for the 2nd year running. This is a proud moment for our organisation. I’m so proud of our team of staff and volunteers. This is well deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication to supporting the Veteran community.”

“Soldier On has been working hard to adapt and grow our support services to meet the expanding need for mental health support, social connection, as well as employment and education support during this challenging COVID-19 climate. Supporting Veterans and their families remains at the heart of everything we do and we hope receiving this Award can help shine a spotlight on our support programs and the help that is available to Veterans and their families from Soldier On.”

Soldier On enables Veterans and their families to thrive via a holistic support model, with support programs available to the whole Defence community. This year the organisation’s Pathways Program has grown to provide local support from staff located in every state in Australia and is now providing employment and education support to more than 3,200 Veterans and their families.

Prudence Slaughter, Pathways Program Director, receiving the Award, said; “It’s humbling to receive the Veteran Support Program of the Year Award on behalf of Soldier On, especially this year, which has been challenging for so many and a year that Veterans and their families have needed our support more than ever. It is an honour to be recognised here, alongside such incredible Veteran Support organisations and Defence Industry leaders. This Award is a symbol of our Soldier On team’s dedication and commitment to supporting Veterans and their families. I would like to say a big thank you to our team, and to all of our supporters and our Pledge and Education partners – with their support, we have been able to enable more Veterans and their families to get help and secure their future careers.”
