Soldier On today welcomed details of the Government’s recent announcement of $2bn toward supporting the rebuilding of communities, as well as mental health support for those who are in the front line of this National bushfire crisis.
Defence personnel have been working tirelessly since September 2019 on this natural disaster. This is the largest single call out in Australia’s history of Defence Force personnel, with over 3,000 reservists working together with the full-time Defence Force.
Soldier On CEO Ivan Slavich said, “These funds and the establishment of the National Bushfire Recovery Agency will provide support for the mental health and well-being of Defence personnel and all first responders who are at the forefront of this bushfire crisis. Through Soldier On, our Defence personnel have access to services that include ongoing visits with psychologists, mentoring programs, and social activities, that can assist them to recover from their experiences, and transition to everyday life following this active service. We applaud this initiative and look forward to playing a part in helping the government deliver these essential services to Defence personnel.”
