Soldier On and StoryRight are excited to announce a new Pathways Networking Event will be held for South Australia’s contemporary veterans on 3rd October, hosted by the University of South Australia.
Pathways Networking Events play a key role in helping contemporary veterans and their families to secure employment in the civilian world by networking with Soldier On pledge companies and education providers in a relaxed, no-stress environment.
Oliver Andrews, ex-Army cavalryman and graduate of the StoryRight workshop program said, “When I left the Army last year, I had a tough time. It’s great to see StoryRight and Soldier On teaming up to help veterans in their fight for a fair go in the civilian world. I’ll be there on 3rd October to help other serving and ex-serving members as they prepare for a new life after serving their country.”
The October event also marks the official launch of a partnership between Soldier On and StoryRight as they work together to support veteran employment.
Soldier On offers holistic support through its Health and Wellbeing, Employment, Learning, and Participation (H.E.L.P.) programs to build resilience, and create and expand meaningful connections with family, community, and employers. The Pathways Networking Event are a key element of the Soldier On Pathways Program that links with 167 Pledge companies and the 25 Education Partners offering roles and education courses to contemporary veterans and families.
StoryRight offers one-day communications workshops to help serving and ex-serving members ‘translate’ their military skills to secure civilian employment. Founded in South Australia by veterans for veterans, StoryRight is now expanding to other states.
Soldier On is also pleased to announce the re-opening of its South Australia office, led by new staff member, Linda McCabe.
While Linda’s primary focus is education and employment assistance for contemporary veterans and family members, she will also coordinate social activities to encourage greater connection within the South Australian defence community.
“We’re collaborating with a number of employers who are supportive of veteran employment as Soldier On Pledge Partners in the lead up to the event,” said Linda.
“Our aim is to ensure that veterans and their families can talk to a wide range of businesses and discover a career path that is right for them”.
AeroPM’s General Manager, Adam Frizell, said, “Our business is delighted to be a part of this networking event as it provides wonderful support to members of the community that we care deeply about: our veterans.”
“As a Pledge Partner with Soldier On and with over 88% of our workforce being veterans themselves, AeroPM relishes the opportunity to share our experiences employing wonderfully talented former service personnel.”
“AeroPM recognises that the qualifications, training and experience of those who have served in the Profession of Arms is unparalleled and so should our veterans.”
Soldier On would like to thank the University of South Australia for hosting what will be an informative and exciting evening.
Soldier On also looks forward to working with StoryRight to secure the futures of Australian contemporary veterans and their families in South Australia.
